Man surrenders after killing friend who wanted money back

New Delhi: A 35-year-old man turned himself in to the cops after he shot dead his friend during a drunken scuffle at his own home in Sector-18 area of Rohini district during the wee hours of Sunday.

Cops said that after he killed his friend Yoginder, Vijay came to the nearby police station and admitted the crime. They added that the pistol used for the crime, some empty beer cans and a couple of bottles were recovered from Vijay's house.

According to police, 32-year-old Yoginder, who runs a call center, had lent money to the accused Vijay, who owns some food joints.

"On Saturday night, Yoginder was having alcohol at Vijay's flat. When both the men were inebriated, Vijay asked Yoginder to return him the two lakh rupees which he had taken a long time back. However, the two got into a scuffle and Vijay took out his pistol and shot Yoginder," said a senior police official.

Later, Yoginder went to the nearby police station and told the cops that he had murdered his friend.

"On the basis of the information, a team was sent to his house where the deceased was found in a pool of blood," the official added.

Yoginder was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The body was sent for post-mortem at Ambedkar Hospital.

"During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had taken money from the deceased and he was pressurising him to return the money. To get rid of Yoginder, Vijay murdered him," the officer said.

Vijay has been arrested under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal code and relevant sections of the Arms Act.

Cops said that thought the two men were good friends, there had been some disputes between them over issues other than money. Further investigation is underway from other angles.
