Man stabbed to death for resisting robbery attempt

Noida: A 23-year-old male employee with a private company was stabbed to death by three men for resisting a robbery on him and his brother in sector 66 area of Noida on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Police said that the robbery attempt was made when the victims were returning from their office situated in sector 63 after completing their night duty.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 1:30 am on Thursday when deceased Ajay Kumar and his brother Ram Pratap, natives of Kushinagar district, were walking to their rented room in Mamura village from office when the robbers held them at knife point at an isolated place in sector 66 area. One of them asked the two to hand over their belongings, Ram Pratap gave them his wallet and mobile phone but Ajay refused.

"The deceased's brother had told police that one of the men took out a mobile phone from Ajay's pocket and tried to take out his other belongings. He tried to stop them which led to a scuffle. During the scuffle, the miscreants stabbed Ajay, several times, in his stomach in front of him," said Rajeev Kumar Singh, Circle Officer (II), Noida.

The criminals fled away from the spot and victim's brother somehow took him to nearby private hospital where doctors referred him to district government hospital. He was declared dead on arrival at the district hospital and doctors said that he had died due to excessive bleeding from the stomach.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and have launched a probe into the matter.

"Based on the compliant given by victim's brother, a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code has been registered and further investigations in the case are underway," added Singh.
