Man posing as IPS officer held in Rohini

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday said that they arrested a person for impersonating an IPS officer. The accused has been identified as one Raj Malhotra, who is currently being questioned by police.

According to police, a woman from Aman Vihar had met Malhotra, who identified himself as an IPS officer posted in Delhi. A complainant alleged that the accused said he could get her a job.

Thinking him to be genuine, the woman subsequently transferred the money to him, following which Malhotra stopped responding to her persistent calls. Police said that the woman felt cheated out of her money and filed a complaint at the Aman Vihar police station.

The team took up the investigation immediately and after going through phone records of the accused, they arrested him from Rohini district.

Police added that the accused is a resident of Suleiman Nagar and may be involved in at least two other cheating cases.
