Man kills two children, then ends life after loss in business
Ghaziabad: A 42-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan after killing his two children in Sihani gate area of Ghaziabad on Monday night. Police said that the man was under mental stress after suffering a loss in business while a diary stating the same has also been recovered by police.
According to police, deceased Sunder Pal had been living at his father's house, along with his family of three children and wife, in Noornagar area of Ghaziabad from past couple of months. He had been running a restaurant in Manali-Shimla road for past few years but due to heavy snowfall, the business was shut and he was under depression because of that.
It has also been said that Sunder was under huge debts due to business shutdown while he had also tried to compensate by driving cabs but that too didn't make any changes. However, on Monday night, he had late night chat with two of his children, a 15-year-old physically challenged son, Tushar, and an 11-year-old daughter, Mahi, and killed them by giving a poison-laced sweet dish. Cops said that he also strangled both the kids after making them consume poisonous sweet dish.
Later he also committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan of his room. However, his wife and 6-year-old son Aman were sleeping in another room as the youngest son had his exam on the next day while Sunder was playing carrom along with his two children. Sources said that Sunder also wanted to kill his wife Shashi and Aman as he had also invited them to play carrom along with them but due to Shashi's, who work as a helper in Aanganbaadi, early morning duty and Aman's exam, she went to sleep in another room.
"The matter came to light on early Tuesday morning when Sunder's wife spotted him hanging from the ceiling fan while two of her children were lying dead in bed. She immediately raised an alarm and police were informed. A police team rushed to the spot and took the victims to hospital where doctors declared them brought dead," said Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of Police (city), Ghaziabad.

"We have recovered a diary from Sunder's room in which he has mentioned huge debts over him. We suspect that he was under mental stress due which forced him to take such an extreme step. However, we are investigating to ascertain the exact reason," said Kumar.
