Man killed in celebratory firing

Noida: A 22-year-old man was killed in celebratory firing during naming rites of a newborn in Sorkha village under sector 49 police station area of Noida on Thursday night. Police officials said that the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Friday morning. According to police, the deceased identified as Harendra Yadav, was present at the celebration when few of his relatives started firing bullets as a part of celebration while dancing at the DJ.

"As per the information conveyed, the villagers had assembled to perform naming rites of a newborn. During celebrations, some people started firing gunshots while dancing in the ceremony which hit Yadav in his abdomen and he fell down on the floor," said Girija Shankar Tripathi, Station House Officer, sector 49 police station.

The celebrations turned sour when a bullet hit the young man who was at a counter to have dinner and was cheering the celebrations.

As per the locals the accused fired a lot of bullets in the air while dancing. "Initially, we thought that he had fainted but when we saw blood running out of the abdomen we understood that a bullet fired by another man has hit him," a local said. Following which the incident, the family members of the victim rushed him to Yatharth Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
