Man involved in several heinous crimes nabbed after encounter

Greater Noida: Following a late night encounter, Gautam Buddh Nagar police nabbed a dreaded criminal who was wanted in nearly a dozen cases of heinous crimes including murder, attempt to murder, loot and others.

Cops said that the accused was arrested from Jarcha police station in Greater Noida and he is one of the suspect in lynching of Mohammad Ikhlaq in Bisahda village around four years ago.

According to police, the arrested accused had been identified as Hariom, a native of Bisahda village in Jarcha area of Greater Noida.

Ranvijay Singh, Superintendent of Police (rural), Gautam Buddh Nagar said that the accused was arrested after a gun battle with police from Samna river bridge in Jarcha area.

"Police received information about the movement of accused on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday and a team from Jarcha police station carried out checking. The accused who was travelling on a motorcycle opened fire on police when he was signalled to stop. However, police had to retaliate in which the accused sustained bullet injury in his leg," said Singh.

The officer further said that nearly a dozen cases of heinous crimes were registered against the accused in different police station of Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad districts.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the nearly seven cases of loot, murder, attempt to murder and other heinous crimes were registered against the accused in Gautam Buddh Nagar district while four cases of loot were registered against him in Masuri police station of Ghaziabad," Singh added.

A senior police officer said that Hariom is one of the prime suspect in lynching of Mohammad Ikhlaq on suspicion of cow slaughter in September 2015.

A mob of villagers attacked Ikhlaq's house killing him and injuring his younger brother. Hariom was one among the nineteen persons booked for the case and he got bail in July 2017.
