Man involved in killing cable bizman held after 9 years
NEW DELHI: A 43-old-man who had dogged Delhi police from last nine years in a murder case of Delhi based cable businessman has been arrested on Wednesday.
The fugitive identified as Ranjit Singh (43) was hiding at his native place in Forbesganj, Bihar since 2010.
He together with his associate had shot dead Sonu alias Bhola, a resident of Kali Basti, Delhi's Uttam Nagar, 10 years ago, November, 27, 2010 over cable business enmity.
A total 9 accused were involved in this murder case. Five accused were convicted in 2017 while two were acquitted.
Meanwhile two among Singh were declared proclaimed offenders.
Dr G Ram Gopal Naik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) said: "He was declared a proclaimed offender by the Court and Delhi police had declared Rs 25,000 rewards on his head."
"Acting on a tip-off on July 8 that accused is hiding in Forbes ganj, Bihar, a police team was sent there to nab him. The police team got to know that the accused Ranit Singh had gone to Katihar. The team further went to katihar where Ranjit Singh was traced who had changed his appearance to evade from cops," DCP added.
There were total 9 accused persons in this murder case. Out of them, five accused were convicted, two were acquitted by the court and other two accused persons were declared as Proclaimed Offender by the Court, said a police official.
