Man held for six-year-old's rape, murder in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police on Wednesday confirmed that the six-year-old girl, whose body was recovered on Tuesday morning from a vacant plot, few meters away from her house in Loni area, was raped before being brutally murdered after the Post Mortem report came to light, said a senior police officer.

Police have also arrested the accused, who is a neighbor to victim, in connection with the case.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Faizul Islam and worked as tutor in the area.

Police officials said that the girl had left her home on Monday night saying that a 'bhaia' in the neighbourhood is calling her. She went missing from home after that while her body was later found lying at a plot near house house early in the morning.

"During sustained investigations into the case, police gathered information which pointed out towards Faizul to have been involved into the incident."

"Police team conducted raid and arrested him from his house on Wednesday morning. The accused confessed to have committed the crime and told police that he raped the girl and strangled her to death under the fear of getting caught. He has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (punishment for rape), 302 (punishment for murder) and 5/6 Protection of Child Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) act," said Arvind Kumar Maurya, Superintendent of Police (rural), Ghaziabad. Police said that the accused will be produced before the court and will be sent to jail.

The six-year-old girl was missing from home on Monday night after she came back home from tuitions around 8 pm. When hours passed and she didn't came back home, the family began searching for her in the area but could not find her.

Later in the morning around 5 am, a local spotted her body lying at a vacant plot in the area and immediately informed her family

members.
