Man held for shooting 22-year-old to death

On Tuesday, Ravi Solanki shot dead Rohit Pal for trying to snatch money from him to buy alcohol in New Usmanpur.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a 27-year-old man for his involvement in the murder of youth in New Usmanpur area on Tuesday.
According to police, the accused Ravi Solanki, a resident of New Usmanpur, has been involved in several crimes in the past.
On October 24, Solanki shot dead 22-year-old Rohit Pal, which the accused claimed was the result of Rohit trying to forcefully snatch money from him in order to buy alcohol.
To solve the case, a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gokalpuri police station, Mahinder Kumar Meena and closely supervised by Additional DCP of North East district R P Meena was formed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Ajit Kumar Singla said that during investigation, it was revealed that on October 24 around 9 am, the deceased and his friend Harish were consuming alcohol beside their motorcycle at Nala road at Kartar Nagar, in New Usmanpur.
When cops interrogated Harish, he confirmed that he and Rohit Pal were consuming beer, and Solanki and an associate passed by them on a CBZ motorcycle.
The DCP stated that Solanki told cops that on the day of the incident he and his associate were on their way to receive payment from a person named Anil in Pusta Usmanpur.
As soon as their motorcycle reached Nala road, Rohit – in an intoxicated state – told them to stop and demanded money from them to buy more beer.
"When he refused, Rohit's friend Harish grabbed Solanki's arms from behind, while Rohit tried to snatch the money that Solanki had on him. In the ensuing commotion, Ravi took out his pistol and fired at Rohit. He fell to the ground and Solanki fired another round at him. Solanki and his associate then ran away on his motorcycle," said the DCP.
