Man held for raping minor step-daughter

Noida: A 35-year-old man has been arrested by police for allegedly raping his minor step daughter in Harola area of Noida. Police said that the incident was reported by victim's mother, following which an FIR was registered and arrest was made.

According to the complaint lodged, victim's mother was married to the accused, identified as Nanak, around six months ago. The victim girl was from her first husband while her second husband, accused in the case, is an alcoholic person. The accused man allegedly threatened his 8-year-old step daughter and raped her inside the house on Tuesday night. Somehow the girl gathered courage and narrated her ordeal to her mother in the morning, following which the woman lodged a complaint with police.

"The family lived in JJ colony of Harola in Noida and belongs to labour class. The victim's mother has claimed that her daughter has been raped by her second husband on Tuesday night inside her house. Also she alleged that he is an alcoholic person and used to thrash her for no reason, frequently," said Manoj Pant, Station House Officer (SHO), Sector 20 police station, Noida.

Police said that following the complaint from victim's mother, an FIR was registered and the accused was arrested later on Wednesday.

"Based on victim's claims and the complaint lodged by her mother, we have booked the accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 376 (rape) and provisions of Protection of Child against Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act. He was arrested and has been sent to the jail after producing before the court," added Pant.

The officer further added that the girl has been sent for the medical examination while further investigation is on into the case.
