Man held for killing woman

Greater Noida: Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have arrested a 35-years-old man for allegedly killing a 30-years-old woman at his flat located at 18th floor in AVJ heights society in sector Zeta-1 of Greater Noida and then pushing her body from the balcony.

The incident came to light on November 3 when the accused identified as Mumtaz Khan, a native of district Supol in Bihar had called a woman at his rented flat to spend a night with him.

The accused is separated from his wife and used to live alone at his flat, said police.

Cops said that the deceased woman was a sex worker and the accused, on November 2, had called her to his flat to spend a night with him.

However, an argument broke out between them over the exchange of money following which the accused hit her head with a roller pin.

"When blood started oozing out of her head, the accused locked her inside the flat and fled away," said Kumar Ran Vijay Singh, Superintendent of Police (rural), Gautam Buddh Nagar.

"Upon interrogating the accused, he told police that he hid the body inside the bed and went to his brother's flat who live in the same society. Later he again went to his flat in the wee hours and took out the body from bed before pushing her from the balcony of his flat to make it look like a suicide," Singh added. The officer further said that the accused escaped to his native place in Bihar when the matter came into light.

"When Security guards of the society spotted the body and informed police, the accused left to Bihar in order to evade arrest. However, police traced him on Sunday and made the arrest. He confessed to have committed the crime and has been sent to jail after producing before the court," added Singh.
