Man held for killing live-in partner

Ghaziabad: A 24-year-old youth has been arrested by Ghaziabad police for allegedly killing his live-in partner with whom he lived for the past two years. Cops said that the deceased woman was already married and had three kids but was living separately with the youth from the past two years.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Ravi Kumar, a native of Nandgram village in Sihani gate area of Ghaziabad.

The accused worked with the deceased woman, identified as Neetu (35) at the same private company in Ghaziabad, said police.

On the evening of August 3, a few neighbors found the woman lying unconscious inside her house while her partner was missing. They immediately informed police about the incident and police took the victim to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. Police informed the family of deceased who gave complaint against the youth and a case was registered.

One of victim's family members said that she was married to a man in 2004 and the couple had three kids. However, she started working at a private company in Ghaziabad where she met the accused and both started living together.

"Since last two years, she had left her family and was living with the accused. The accused used to thrash her for no reason and they usually fight over pity issues. Also the accused was into relationship with some other girl," said Amit, deceased's younger brother.

Umesh Bahadur Singh, Station House Officer of Sihani Gate police station said that the accused was absconding after the incident while police managed to nab him on Sunday.

"Upon interrogating the accused, he told police that a heated argument broke out between them on the night of incident and under a fit of anger, he strangled her to death and fled the spot. The accused will be presented before the court and will be sent to jail," said Singh.
