Man held for killing ex-girlfriend inside flat in Greater Noida

Greater Noida: Working out the murder case of 24-year-old woman who was found murdered inside an apartment at ninth floor in Ajnara Homes society of Greater Noida West, police have arrested a man who has been identified as deceased woman's ex-boyfriend. Police said that the victim's family were forcing the accused for money amid which he murdered the girl as he got fed up of their demands.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Sonu Chauhan (33), a native of Raipur village under sector 126 of Noida. Cops said that Chauhan is already married and has two children.

Police officials said that the arrest was made on Wednesday morning from tigri round about. Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar said that both the deceased and accused were into a live-in relationship and lived together for three years.

"Upon interrogating the accused he confessed to have committed the crime and told police that both of them were working together on probation at a government office in Delhi, from where they came to know each other and later decided to get into a relationship. They lived together in a live-in relationship for three years and got separated as their relationship started turning sour due to some personal reasons. However, both of them still remained in touch and the man had gathered information on when she would be alone in the flat," said Krishna.

The officer further said that during the probe it has also been alleged by the accused that the deceased's family was forcing him for money.

"Chauhan also told police that deceased was demanding money from him to buy flat for which he gave Rs 10 lakhs to them. As they continued to demand more money, he killed the girl after getting fed up of their demands," added Krishna.

Police said that the man has been booked under Indian Penal Code Section 302 (murder) and under the Arms Act. Police have also recovered the knife used for committing the crime.
