Man flies to Delhi after robbing couple in Mumbai, arrested

New Delhi: The man who committed robbery in Mumbai in the house of an elderly couple has been arrested from ISBT in Delhi by the Special staff of the North district on August 4.
The 27-year-old accused, identified as Raju Sonkar, is a resident of Gonda disrict in UP and Rs 7.52 lakh cash and gold jewellery was recovered from his possession.
The Mumbai police was looking for him but luck ran out when Raju was caught in Delhi.
On this, the Delhi Police team on information from Mumbai police laid a trap at ISBT Kashmere Gate number 1. The team acted swiftly and apprehended the accused Sonkar.
Raju has been working as a salesman in a ration shop in Mumbai for the last 10 years. His cousin Shivnath was working as a cook in the house of a senior citizen at khar, Mumbai on the fake name as Raju from last two years.
On further interrogation accused Raju Sonkar disclosed that he along with his four accomplices who have been identified as Hasim, Shivnath, Kallu and Santosh, committed robbery.
"While committing the robbery, they selected a time when the old lady was alone at home and her husband was away. Finding the old lady alone, they tied her and committed robbery in which as per the information available, Rs 25 lakh cash and jewellery valuing around Rs 7-8 lakh were taken away," said Jatin Narwal, DCP North.
After committing the robbery, Raju flew from Mumbai by flight on January 1 this year and stayed at one of his relative's place at Darya Ganj in Delhi.
The accused was very fond of good clothes and watching film shooting in Mumbai and wanted to live a lavish lifestyle.
