Man fled from police custody in June, held from Vikas Marg area

New Delhi: The special cell of Delhi Police arrested a criminal identified Salman who had escaped from police custody in June. The investigators said that he had jumped from a running train near Agra after removing handcuffs while he was being escorted to Delhi from Hyderabad.

According to police the accused was arrested on the basis of information that he would come from ITO side on a bike and would meet one of his associates near Akshardham Mandir between 1 AM to 2 AM on September 11. A trap was laid and Salman was arrested from Vikas Marg area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said that accused was previously involved in 31 cases. "He is presently wanted in more than 15 criminal cases of robbery, snatching and MCOCA, " said DCP special cell. The team under the supervision of ACP Attar Singh arrest the accused.

DCP Kushwah further said that in the intervening night of June 11 and 12, accused was being brought to Delhi from Hyderabad by a team of six police personnel in train. When he realized that police personnel were a bit relaxed Salman removed his handcuffs and jumped from the slow-moving train near Agra at about 3 AM on that day.

"He came at NH2 and took a lift in a container and arrived in Gurgaon. He came to Delhi from Gurgaon and met his associates. He kept on changing his hideouts which were houses on rent in Khora Colony and started living there under a changed name, " police said.

He further disclosed that he along with his associates has been committing armed robbery, snatching in Delhi for the last two-three months. He has disclosed to have committed more than six snatchings, robberies in Delhi during this period. He further disclosed that he always keeps fast-moving 220 CC Pulsor bikes for a crime so that police finds it difficult to chase him.

During interrogation, it has also been revealed that Salman is a bad character of Bhajanpura police station. He has been committing crime for the last 17 years. Last, he was arrested in the year 2017, as he was wanted in a case of MCOCA and 8 other cases of robbery, dacoity and snatching in Delhi and Hyderabad. He was then carrying a reward of Rs. 1 Lakh in case of MCOCA of Bhajanpura police station. In the year 2010, he was externed from Delhi in view of his continuous indulgence in heinous offences.
