Man fires at woman, then shoots self to death
NEW DELHI: A man shot himself dead after leaving a woman critically injured, in north west Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area on late Saturday night.
Police stated that they have found a suicide note from the spot, which was being examined.
An eyewitness at the spot, Vicky, said that he saw the man reach the spot on a motorcycle, while the girl had come on a scooty.
After a brief discussion, the man took out a country-made gun and fired at the woman, injuring her.
The gunshot attracted the attention of passersby, causing a crowd began to gather, after which the man shot himself in the head.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Milind Dumbere said that the incident was reported late night on Saturday, after which police personnel rushed to spot.
The victims, whose names are yet to be revealed, were sent to the hospital, where the man was declared brought dead.
The woman, believed to be the partner of the deceased, is receiving treatment and reported to be critical.
Meanwhile, Dumbere refused to disclose the contents of the suicide note.
Police sources said the man was found with a bullet wound in his head, whereas the woman received was shot in the stomach.
"It is believed that the man shot the woman first and then shot himself. We are investigating from all angles," said an official.
The deceased was reportedly a resident of Rohini, while the woman lives in Burari area. Both are in their 30s. Police are waiting for the statement of the woman.
