Man duped many by issuing fake air tickets, held

NEW DELHI: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a cheat identified as Sandeep Kumar Jha, a resident of Khajoori Khas, Delhi, who duped several persons by issuing fake air tickets. He is a proclaimed offender in a cheating case of Barakhamba Road police station, Delhi, and is also wanted in numerous other cheating cases in Jaipur, Pune and Pondicherry.

According to police, Sandeep Jha admitted his involvement in numerous cases. He disclosed that he had provided fake air tickets to many persons while being employed with a travel agency in Connaught Place, New Delhi. He had managed to convince the proprietor of the travel agency using his marketing skills, he could arrange for cheaper air tickets as compared to the prevailing market rates. After working honestly for some time, he gained the trust of his employer but soon started cheating the firm and innocent travellers by issuing fake air tickets in place of genuine air tickets.

"He had been evading arrest as he was wanted in cheating cases registered against him in Delhi, Rajasthan, Pondicherry and Maharashtra. Recently, he came to know that a complaint is pending against him in Pondicherry as well," said DCP crime, Joy Tirkey.

The accused had done his hotel management from Meerut in 2009 and later completed his MBA in hospitality through correspondence in 2015. He worked as a steward in five stars hotels in Delhi between 2009 to 2018.
