Man chased, beaten to death in Adarsh Nagar

Over a trivial issue over nonpayment of money, one person was chased and beaten to death in north west Delhi's Adarsh Nagar on Thursday.
The man was chased from Sabzi Mandi to Adarsh Nagar railway station by a group of three-four persons who then beat him till he lost consciousness.
The deceased, identified as Rahul, was declared brought dead on arrival by the doctors.
So far, the police have claimed that they have detained two-four persons in connection with the case.
They are currently being questioned in connection with the assault.
According to police, Rahul was staying his family at Jahangirpuri and was working as a transport officer at Sabzi Mandi.
On the day of the incident, he was on his way to work when he met the accused. One of them men from the group confronted Rahul as he had not paid him his money.
"It started as a minor confrontation. However, it blew out of proportion within a few minutes and the accused started beating him. He tried to run but he was chased by the group for a few metres before he was caught by the group." said a police official privy to the investigation.
After beating him to death, the accused fled the area and a passerby informed the police after which his body was shifted to the local mortuary for post-mortem.
His family had also claimed his body after the post mortem for his last rites.
The police have claimed that the accused are also employees at the transport office and are Rahul's colleagues but have remained tight-lipped about their identity as they wanted not to jeopardise the investigation in the process.
