Man beaten to death near petrol pump in Ggn

GURUGRAM: Incidents of road rage are nothing new in Gurugram, but one such occurrence on Wednesday night took a deadly turn, after a 35-year-old man was brutally murdered in New Colony.
The deceased, identified as Surender, bled to his death on the street, after he was beaten with bricks and stones.
His relative Ravi, who had accompanied him, also received severe injuries, but was fortunate to survive. He is presently receiving treatment at a Gurugram hospital.
The incident occurred around 10.30 pm on Wednesday near a petrol pump at New Colony, when Surender and Ravi were taking a stroll.
A while later, an unidentified youth suddenly got into an argument with them over a trivial issue.
What started as a verbal argument between Surender and the youth worsened and soon the two began abusing each other. The youth then called a friend of his, who came to the spot and started assaulting Surender and Anil, till they felt unconscious.
Questions are also being raised on the lack of action by police in the case.
Though the nearest police station was around 300 metres away from the petrol pump, there were no police personnel to intervene in the scuffle.
Less than a week ago, a group of youngsters had ransacked contractor's house in Gurugram and assaulted him, which was reportedly caused by an altercation over car parking.
At the time of assault, the contractor's wife and daughter were in the house. Yet, the miscreants did not hold back.
"Even after the Haryana government's ban on open drinking, people still flout rules at Sukhrali and areas near Sector-17. Moreover, the problem of road rage is on the rise in the area. Most of the commuters drive rashly after dark. There have been various incidents of altercation between commuters reported from the area," said Sukhdev Sehrawat, a Gurugram resident.
