Man beaten to death in Noida
Noida: A 26-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by few persons of his neighbourhood after he refused to give them money to buy alcohol in sector 9 area of Noida. Police said that the incident took place on Tuesday night, however, the man succumbed to his injuries while getting treatment on late Wednesday night.
Police have arrested the accused identified as Salman on early Thursday morning.
According to police, a heated argument broke out between the deceased, identified as Nawab, and Salman after he refused to give money to buy alcohol.
"On Tuesday night, Salman along with his few friends demanded money from Nawab to buy alcohol. But Nawab refused and a heated argument broke out between them" said Rajvir Singh Chauhan, Station House Officer of sector 20 police station.
"Enraged with this, Salman took an iron rod and hit Nawab at his back, head and forehead. As he started bleeding profusely and fell on the ground, the locals spotted him and immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital from where he was referred to Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi. However, he succumbed to injuries during treatment at the hospital" added Chauhan.
The assailants had managed to flee the spot, however, soon after the death, Nawab's family members lodged complaint at sector 20 police station of Noida, based on which police arrested accused Salman.
"We have arrested Salman under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 (punishment for murder). We are gathering evidences in connection with the case and are investigating in details to ensure that similar actions can be taken against all those who were involved in the incident" said Chauhan.
