Man arrested for murder in Jasola

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has arrested a man for murdering a man on February 20 in South East Delhi's Jasola.

The deceased identified as Rashid and his body was found in his car with a bullet injury.

"A PCR call regarding a person lying in an unconscious condition in a car near Omaxe Square Mall, Jasola was received Sarita Vihar. On receiving the call, police team immediately rushed to the spot and found a man lying on the driver seat with a bottle of liquor in his hand. Injured was immediately shifted to the Apollo hospital, where he was declared brought dead," said DCP South East chinmoy Biswal.

During scrutiny of the CCTV footages, deceased was last seen outside a liquor shop at Jasola with one Tauffiq.

During the examination, Tauffiq stated that he was known to deceased and his wife from the past many years and on the day of the incident, he consumed liquor with the deceased.

Thereafter, he left the spot and had no clue about the death of the deceased.

However, on sustained interrogation, contradictions were found in the statement of the alleged Tauffiq.

When Tauffiq was contradicted with his movements, he broke down and confessed his guilt. Taufiq has been

arrested.

He said that he shot Rashid dead over a dispute.
