Man arrested for molesting 11-yr-old girl in south east Delhi

NEW DELHI: A person has been arrested for allegedly molesting a minor girl in south east Delhi's Dakshinpuri area. A video of the incident had recently gone viral, and police are now searching for the person who uploaded the video.
Police sources said that they are scanning social media websites to find the source from where the video began circulating.
"The video was also circulated through WhatsApp, which is also being scanned," said an investigator.
Police said that the incident was reported on Tuesday, when the nine-year-old victim visited a grocery shop to buy cooking oil from the shop owned by the accused. At the shop, the accused allegedly started touching the girl inappropriately.
The entire incident was filmed by a person, who uploaded it in social media websites. The video soon went viral and locals approached police seeking action.
Police sources claimed that the accused lured the victim on the pretext of chocolates. After receiving the information, the girl was sent for medical examination and the accused was arrested late Tuesday night.
Both the accused and victim are resident of south east Delhi. A case has been registered under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Between January 2016 and August 2017, Delhi Police registered more than 2,500 cases of rape and molestation of minors.
The safety of women and girls in the Capital remains the top priority of the city police, as they have arrested more than 9,000 people involved in rape and molestation of women.
