Man allegedly drinks phenyl at Delhi Secretariat

NEW DELHI: Chaos ensued at Delhi Secretariat here, after a man fell to the ground while shouting that he had consumed Phenyl on Friday.
According to police, the incident came to light after they received a PCR call at IP Estate police station.
Immediately, a police team was rushed to the spot and the man was found lying on the ground near the Secretariat.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
Delhi Police said that they are investigating whether or not the man had actually consumed phenyl.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa told reporters that officers are investigating the case to make sure whether the man's claims were just hoax.
"We are waiting for the doctor's report," said the police official.
Police sources claimed that the 35-year-old man is a resident of Bindapur area and he was possibly depressed due to some family problems.
"He started shouting that he had drunk phenyl and then fell down near a gate of the Secretariat. People at the spot then made a PCR call," said a police official, adding that they have informed the man's family members in this regard.
