Malaria cases on the rise in Gurugram

Along with host of major diseases like dengue, diarrhoea and swine flu, now malaria scare too has gripped residents of Gurugram. Four confirmed cases have already been reported from the city, all from Old Gurugram. Large-scale construction has mostly proved to be a challenge in tackling the rise of vector-borne diseases. Most such sites have poor drainage facilities, causing water to stagnate and giving mosquito larvae room to thrive. Six dengue cases have already been confirmed in the city. Malaria, meanwhile, has heavily impacted Gurugram's neighbouring Mewat, where 1,000 cases have been reported.
