Maids arrested for Rs 80 lakh burglary

NEW DELHI: Three persons including maids who were involved in the burglary case of Rs 80 lakh were arrested by North West Delhi Police. The city police also apprehended a juvenile for his involvement in the crime.
The accused were identified as Deepa (30), Kunti (24), Rohit (24) and one juvenile. On December 2, at about 02:30 AM, an information was received to police about a theft which has occurred in Gujrawala Town after breaking the locks.
The incident, in which huge amount of cash and jewelry was reported have been stolen, created a sense of panic in the neighborhood.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-west) Asalam Khan stated that the team visited the spot and carried out a thorough inspection of the scene of a crime.
It was learned that at the time of the incident, each and every member of the Bedi household had gone out to attend a wedding function. Only four domestic bits of help (maids) remained in the house. It was also noticed by the team members that the "entry" of the criminals involved in the incident was 'friendly' which further pointed towards the role of the insiders especially the 4 maidservants who had stayed back in the house
During interrogation, the maids confessed to their crime.
