Maid decamps with jewellery box, held
NEW DELHI: A maid working in a house in Defence colony has been arrested after she fled with the jewellery safe which also contained cash and other valuables.
The maid was arrested along with her husband from Bangalore where she was hiding after fleeing from Delhi.
The maid named Shanti, a resident of Nepal, was employed in the house and only 15 days later she was found missing along with the safe kept in the house.
The safe was carrying cash, jewellery and valuables. The only clue was the mobile phone used by the maid which was found inactive soon after the incident. Not even a photograph of the accused was available. One month later, the close contacts of the accused were tracked in Banglore. A team of Narcotics Squad was sent to Banglore. The team zeroed down the location and then the door to door search was conducted.
"Later, the maid was found working in a house. She was identified on the basis of a photograph available on CAF. Shanti Joshi was apprehended with her husband Kishan Joshi and stolen diamond ring, wrist watch etc recovered," said DCP South Vijay Kumar.
Police is now investigating if the couple was involved in more cases of theft with similar modus operandi.
