Maid arrested for attacking 73-year-old woman with knife

NEW DELHI: A domestic help in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area has been arrested by Delhi Police, after her 73-year-old employer alleged that the girl attacked her in her residence.
Police said the accused had reportedly asked the victim for Rs five lakh to pay for her mother's treatment.
According to police, a PCR call was received in Greater Kailash police station on Thursday regarding a scuffle.
A senior policeman reached N-block in Greater Kailash-I to find the house of the victim locked from the outside.
During investigation, cops learned that the victim, identified as Neeraj Gupta, had been taken to a hospital for treatment.
Cops later came to know that Gupta was attacked by her maid while she was at home.
Soon, the Station House Officer of Neb Sarai was informed that the PCR call for robbery was made by the 23-year-old maid Tulsi, who had been working for Gupta for the past five months.
DCP (South) Romil Baaniya stated that the Tulsi, a resident of Tigri, used the call as a distraction after she attacked Gupta with a knife.
In her statement, Gupta said that around 4 pm on Thursday, Tulsi attacked her with her chunni and a knife, demanding money for her mother's treatment. The woman had first asked Tulsi if she wanted some food, but she had refused.
In dire need of money, Tulsi went on to inflict minor cuts on Gupta's neck. The septuagenarian, however, managed to wrest the knife out of Tulsi's hand.
The knife then struck the victim on her foot, after which Tulsi stopped attacking her. "Gupta has been discharged from hospital and is reportedly fine. Legal action under robbery taken," said the DCP.
