Love Commandos: Other NGO staff on police radar

New Delhi: A day after the arrest of Sanjoy Sachdev, chairman of NGO Love Commandos in Paharganj for threatening and extorting money from a couple, the probe is on the role of other NGO staff. Police sources claimed that they are investigating the role of two to three employees of the NGO and questioning going is on. "Few names have surfaced during the probe," added the source.

When asked what Sachdev told during interrogation, an investigator claimed that he only told them that he runs an NGO. Police claimed that bank details of the accused will be scan for further probe.

According to Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) press statement, it was observed that the NGO Founder was indulging in illegal confinement and extortion of the couples behind the façade of providing a "safe home" to the victims. It was learnt that four couples were staying there who had married against the wishes of their parents.

"There was no female staff in the home and the male staff used to check the bags and even undergarments of the girls on their entry into the home," said press statement.

All four couples were being ill-treated, illegally confined by force and were forced to pay huge arbitrary sums as 'fees'. One of the girls stated that if her parents would send her any money, the owners would keep all the money and give her only a nominal sum for her expenses. Further, no records were being maintained by the NGO of the couples helped in the past and their present condition. One of the couples mentioned that their family is repeatedly trying to get in touch with them and is ready to have them back home but the owner wouldn't let them leave.
