LLB graduate held for stealing advocate's wallet at airport
New Delhi: An LLB graduate was arrested for stealing the wallet of an advocate from the domestic airport on Thursday. Police claimed that the incident came to light when a PCR call was made to police by the advocate who had missed his flight because of the incident.
In the statement to police, the victim claimed that in the morning he was about to board a Kolkatta-bound flight. "I was at the frisking machine and forgot to take the wallet from the tray. Later someone picked it up," complainant told police.
He informed the authorities regarding the incident and CCTV was scanned. "The footage caught the act of the accused and he was arrested at boarding gate," police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Sanjay Bhatia stated that he was identified as Alok Kumar Tripathi, an LLB graduate. DCP Bhatia further stated that all articles have been recovered.
A case under sections 379 (Punishment for theft) and 411 (Dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered with city police.
Last year, more than 700 persons were arrested by the IGI police. The investigating agency claimed to have solved 76 per cent of the crime incidents.
