LIC agent alleges rape, man arrested from UP's Akbarpur
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has arrested a man working with railways in UP's Akbarpur for allegedly raping an LIC agent in Delhi. The woman approached Delhi police and alleged that the man raped her on several occasions on the pretext of marriage. The Delhi Police team then raided his house in Akbarpur in UP and arrested the man with the help of GRP.
The case was registered at Shahbad dairy and a team was formed to locate and arrest the accused who fled Delhi. The team then tracked the whereabouts of the accused and went to Akbarpur. With the help of local Police and GRP the man was tracked and arrested. He was brought to Delhi after the transit remand was taken.
According to sources, the woman who is a widow and the accused knew each other for a long period of time. Both are permanent residents of Azamgarh, UP.
The woman alleged that the man promised to marry her and on the pretext sexually assaulted her. However, the woman kept asking him for marriage but he refused on one pretext or the other. The man also allegedly threatened her and finally refused to marry her. After this the woman went to the Police station and lodged an FIR. A case was filed under relevant sections of IPC and a team was formed to arrest the accused.
The cops then tracked the mobile of the accused and he was found to be present in UP's Akbarpur. He was arrested on Tuesday and was brought to Delhi.
