LG visits NH-24, directs NHAI to ensure cleanliness

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday inspected areas of East Delhi and took stock of development works underway at National Highway-24 (NH-24).
During his survey, Baijal was accompanied by East Delhi Municipal Commissioner (EDMC) Dr Ranbir Singh, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) chairman Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary (Urban Development Authority and PWD) Renu Sharma and DDA Commissioner (Land) Rajeev Verma, among other senior officials.
Baijal directed authorities at NHAI to ensure beautification, cleanliness, lightning and greenery on both sides of the highway road.
He also directed that a bus-lane be developed on NH-24 for increased convenience of citizens. NHAI chairman Deepak Kumar assured the LG that all development works on the highway road would be completed by January 26.
The LG further directed NHAI, Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation and other civic agencies bring to use recycled products being developed at the construction and demolition (C&D) waste plant, as it will help meet the challenge of solid waste disposal in East Delhi, along with increasing the capacity of the C&D plant.
Further, Baijal inspected Vikas Marg, Pushta Road and Ring Road and directed the concerned senior officials of PWD to carry beautification of roads by hanging plants, artwork on walls, ensuring proper lighting and signages.
The LG later inspected beautification work of Seelampur flyover, being undertaken by EDMC and appreciated the Corporation in this regard.
