LG reviews steps taken to combat cybercrime

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal on Thursday reviewed the three years' roadmap of Delhi Police for combating cybercrime. Delhi Police made a detailed presentation regarding prevalent cyber-crimes and the measures to check them. The presentation covered technical as well as human resources aspects to combat the cybercrime. The meeting was attended by Delhi Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home), Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Special CPs and Joint CPs of Delhi Police.
The L-G Baijal was also briefed about the various issues and the multi-level structure including cyber teams/cells from Police Station and Centralised Cybercrime Units. The presentation covered various aspects like gathering of actionable intelligence, forensics, investigation and prosecution as well as awareness and training programmes.
The L-G was apprised that Delhi Police is actively monitoring and working on cracking of different malwares like ransomware, bitcoin thefts, frauds/cheating etc. In addition to this new areas like network forensics, cloud forensics, advance mobile forensics, etc are being taken up. A year wise road-map for three years was also discussed in the meeting. Baijal stressed upon periodic assessment and review of the progress made upon them, so that the work can be accomplished in a time bound manner.
