LG reviews remodelling plans of Vasant Udyan Park

Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday visited the Delhi Development Authority's Vasant Udyan Park for an on-site review of the park's proposed landscaping and remodelling plans.
Baijal asked officials to consult experts to spruce up the area around the Tughlaq-era monument Bara Lao Ka Gumbad, which is located in the Vasant Udyan complex, so as to attract more visitors.
The officials told Baijal that the park's boundary wall would be redesigned to make it more in sync with Tughlaq era architecture. He was informed that the Forest department has cleared the landscape proposal of the area.
The LG also instructed officials to make sewage pumping stations (SPS) operational at the earliest and asked DDA and Delhi Jal Board to coordinate on the work of the peripheral pipelines and other amenities.
He also advised DDA to explore the possibility of treatment of sewage flowing in the drain through the site by bio-remedial measures, so as to improve the quality of water.
Baijal also directed Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board to adhere to the deadline of providing toilets and take action to prevent encroachments in the park.
He further said that development and remodelling of the park will provide facilities such as children's play area, jogging/walk track, open gym, toilet facilities, seating areas etc for residents in the area.
Completing his visit, the LG directed the concerned agencies for time-bound implementation of the various work components so as to finish the entire project by January 2018.
