LG holds review meeting with Northern Railway GM

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday reviewed a high-level meeting with Northern Railway General Manager Vishwesh Chaube to remove encroachments, hawkers, shops and unauthorised parked vehicles from the approaching roads of Old Delhi Railway station, New Delhi Railway station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station.
According to a Raj-Niwas official, "The shifting of DTC bus stop on SP Mukherjee Road and Hazrat Nizamuddin with a view to decongesting the approach roads to the station were also discussed at length."
Chaube informed the Lieutenant-Governor about various other issues faced by the Railways. It was highlighted that a lot of garbage and waste is being dumped from nearby colonies on railway land causing unhygienic conditions and difficulties in maintenance of railway tracks.
Chaube also informed Baijal about the need to remove encroachment from railway tracks and other railway land for creating safety zones, expansion works and for future Railway projects.
For this purpose, he sought the assistance of Delhi Police to maintain law and order and Delhi government for rehabilitation of encroachers are being sought by the Railways.
