LG, Delhi leaders condole demise of Arun Jaitley

New Delhi: After the news of Arun Jaitley's demise broke, political leaders reacted to it by sharing messages of condolences on social media. Former finance minister passed away on Saturday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after a period of prolonged illness. Lieutenant Governor Delhi Anil Baijal, reacting on his demise, tweeted that "Deeply saddened by the demise of Sh. Arun Jaitley ji, Hon'ble Member of Parliament & former Union Finance Minister Mr Jaitley was a man of great intellect & compassion, his untimely demise is an irreplaceable loss for the nation. My sincere condolences to his family and friends"

BJP Delhi President and Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari said that he was shocked after the demise of BJP's senior leader and former Union Minister Arun Jaitley. "May his soul rest in peace. The country will never forget his contribution," Tiwari tweeted. MP from New Delhi constituency Meenakashi Lekhi wrote "A man of many shades, one who donned his multiple hats with the greatest aplomb in a life taken away too soon but yet lived well. RIP Jaitley ji, your presence will continue to live on

"In another instance, MP from West Delhi Loksabha Constituency, Parvesh Sahib Singh tweeted "Deeply anguished by the sad news of Former Union Minister of India Shri #ArunJaitley ji leaving for his heavenly abode We've lost an extremely intelligent, inspirational, distinguished leader& statesman who I'd a privilege to know&learn from."

Ramesh Bidhuri, MP from South Delhi constituency, wrote on Twitter "Demise of Hon. Arun Jaitley Ji is huge loss to nation & personal loss to Hon. @narendramodi Ji & Hon.@AmitShah Ji as his contribution in achieving their vision of empowering common man is immense. His contribution in intro. of GST, Demonetisation, Jan Dhan, DBT was substantial."

MP from North West Delhi, Hans Raj Hans said that he was deeply saddened by the death of Arun Jaitley. For him it was a personal loss. Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta wrote " Passing away of Shri Arun Jaitley ji is a crushing loss. He was my guide and mentor. He represented voice of the people when in opposition and when in government, he made sure that people's will is represented in the govt. Every moment of his life was dedicated to the nation."

Delhi BJP leader Ashish Sood said "I am heartbroken by the passing of simple and hard-working politician, sharp thinker Arun Jaitley. I have lost an important guide." Adding further, he said, "the guidance of my respected elder brother Arun Jaitley, during DU politics (1986), played very important role and it helped me in becoming President of DUSU. At that time Bofors scam was in news. The veteran leader had told me how to raise it among the students."

"We are deeply saddened to hear the passing away of Former Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley. Our condolences to his family in this Hour of grief," tweeted Delhi Congress.
