LG dedicates Tilpath Valley Biodiversity Park to the nation

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday dedicated the Tilpath Valley Biodiversity Park to the nation.
Tilpath Valley is one of Delhi's most scenic locations, where one can have a panoramic view of the Aravalli ranges – one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world.
The valley – located near Asola-Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary – has an extensive catchment, including massive Chhatarpur plateau, and the entire precipitation is recharged to the groundwater, which is used by south Delhi residents.
The LG said that the wealth of medicinal plants of the Biodiversity Park should be used for product development by pharmaceutical companies and in association with the Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research.
He also pointed out that AYUSH should utilise the medicinal plant wealth of DDA biodiversity parks. Such ventures would ensure the long-term sustainability of biodiversity parks in terms of resource generation.
He also said that biodiversity parks should facilitate cultural and recreational activities to promote community participation.
