LG chairs review meet with MCD commissioners

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Monday chaired a review meeting of the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) on various issues, deliberating the need to improve the cleanliness and sanitation of roads.
He stressed on procurement of mechanical sweeping machines and expedition of mechanical sweeping on roads.
Baijal also re-emphasized that area under flyovers should be beautified.
Commissioners of respective municipal Corporations apprised the LG about measures taken regarding cleanliness and sanitation in Delhi.
South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) Commissioner informed that integrated system of garbage and collection has been started in the central zone. He also informed that two mechanical sweeping machines have been hired for Dwarka Sub-city.
In a move by the SDMC to provide free use of toilets at restaurants (including petrol pump) for women and children, Commissioner informed that 590 have been notified and "Free Public Toilet" board has been fixed with SDMC logo on the toilets at all petrol pumps.
Meanwhile, the North Delhi Commissioner briefed about measures taken regarding cleanliness and sanitation.
For use of toilets at Restaurants (including petrol pumps) by women, it has been informed that instructions issued for 313. He also informed that out of 251 open gyms, 77 are functioning.
The East Delhi Commissioner said that the civic body has purchased 1,600 trash cans against a target of 5,000. He further informed that EDMC will install 30 open gyms by end of September this year.
