Legal assistance clinic for the poor, elderly opened

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has launched a legal clinic to provide free assistance and guidance to senior citizens and poor people.
The Social Welfare Department has taken this initiative to help the underprivileged with legal advice.
"This is a one-of-its-kind clinic, where every care is being taken into consideration for the welfare of old age and poor people.
"People would come here for legal support and assistance of their problems related to legal issues," said Rajendra Pal Gautam, Delhi Social Welfare Minister.
The minister also noted that being an advocate, he believes that poor people and old age people do not get proper legal advice. These centres will not only help them with advice but also provide legal aids.
The clinic was on Monday inaugurated at Shahdara.
The government sources said that the Department will monitor these centres and it works regularly.
If the department finds that the clinic is working well, with time the number of these centres would be increased. "I am happy and deeply honoured to fulfil such an initiative. I do not want the poor people of the city to suffer without proper legal aid," Gautam said.
