Labourers by day, burglars at night

NEW DELHI: Two burglars have been arrested by Delhi Police crime branch who worked as labourers in Delhi.

The gang after doing recee of the vacant houses while working as labourers in the night made a list of the houses which are probably vacant and the family has put a lock on the door.

Sheikh Mohit and Sheikh Kalam both residents of Kathihar, Bihar have been arrested.

"Upon interrogation, it was revealed by the accused persons that they used to work as labourers with the contractors indulged in the demolition of old houses or buildings, and the debris of demolished sites is usually removed during nights. While working at odd hours, the accused persons identified the houses that are locked and left by the occupants for a longer period," said DCP crime Ram Gopal Naik.

Then, the accused target these premises in the night hours and commit burglaries.

Another interesting fact was revealed by the accused persons that they reside in neighbouring villages in Bihar and more than a hundred persons from their villages work as labourers in Delhi. Most of them are indulged in house thefts and night burglaries in Delhi with similar modus operandi.
