Labourer dies after falling from height in Noida

Noida: A labourer died while another was critically injured after they fell off from a height while working at the Ithum tower in sector 62 area of Noida on Sunday.

Cops said that the incident occurred when the labourers were standing on a temporary wooden scaffolding to paint the outer walls of building.

According to police, the victims were identified as Rakesh, native of District Chhattarpur in Madhya Pradesh and Kamreen a native of Bihar. Police said that Rakesh has died in the incident while Kamreen's condition is critical and is getting treatment at hospital.

"The incident occurred around 4 pm when the labourers, both painter, have been painting the walls after placing a temporary scaffolding. A local person informed police and a team rushed to the spot when victims were taken to nearby hospital. Victim Rakesh succumbed to injuries while Kamreen is received treatment at the hospital," said Pankaj Rai, Station House Officer of sector 58 police station.

Rai future said that one of the portions of the structure broke down which had made it collapse.

"Prima Facie it appears that a portion of the structure was weak which made it collapse. However, we are investigating to know the exact cause. The victim's body was sent for the post mortem while we are still awaiting a complaint into the matter," added Rai.

Meanwhile, the management of the building have assured full CO operation and financial help to the victims.
