Labourer crushed in bottle crushing machine, dies
NEW DELHI: A labourer lost his life after his right side got crushed in a bottle crushing machine in Asola in South Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Madhu Ram, a resident of Lakhimpur Kori.
"As he leaned partly into the machine to settle the crushed bottles, the shaft of the machine came down crushing the deceased and extensively cutting right side of the shoulder and chest. He died on the spot," said DCP South, Vijay
Kumar. The PCR received a call at around 1:17 pm that a person was injured in an accident in the factory.
Soon, a team of a policeman was dispatched and the injured was found into a serious condition.
"The factory was rented to Manish Kumar Gupta who put up a plastic bottle crushing machine and has employed some labourers for running the machine. Operation of machine required some manual handling as well, it ws when the victim was doing that the accident happened," said the officer.
The Police has registered a case of causing death due to negligence and negligent conduct with respect to machinery. The accused owner of the factory Manish Kumar Gupta has been arrested.
