Kerala man loses 3 family members in Delhi blaze

New Delhi: The family of Surender who was staying at the "Arpit Palace" might had left the hotel to Haridwar for a tour but just half an hour before they would have left fire gutted three persons from his family. The family had come from Kerala and attended the wedding in Ghaziabad area. "In the morning I wake up and went to the bathroom for cleaning my teeth when I heard noises," said Surender. He came out from the room and saw the smoke engulfing the hotel. A group of 15, all from an extended family had been staying on the second floor of the Arpit Palace Hotel in Karol Bagh.

"My mother in law and her two children also came out but within a few minutes I did not find him due to thick smoke," added Surender . He further stated that later there bodies were recovered.

Police identified the deceased as Nalini (84) her son Vidya Sagar (60) and

daughter Jayashree. The family were collecting the leftovers things from the house and then left for another place. "People were saying to run towards terrace so all three ran upwards and got trapped," Kumar further said. The family was on an extended vacation. After Haridwar, they were also planning to visit Wagah border in Punjab.

At the spot one Himanshu came to search his father whom he claimed was working with the hotel. "My father Lalchand was working with the hotel and he was missing after the incident," said Himansu. He further stated that while going to his college in the morning he saw the crowd gathering in front of the hotel after which he deboarded bus and came searching for his father.
