Juvenile held for abducting former employer's son

In a clear example of the impact movies have on young minds, a juvenile turned kidnapper after he watched a Bollywood film on the same lines. He only realised that reality is way too different when he was apprehended in less than 12 hours.

The incident was reported from East Delhi's Kalyanpuri where a 4-year-old child was kidnapped at around 12 noon on Monday. The family searched everywhere and when they failed to gather any information, a complaint was filed in the evening. When the cops began to search, the family's worst fears came true when they received a message from an unknown number demanding Rs 3 lakh for the safe release of their son. The ransom call came from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. Immediately a police team rushed there. The other teams in Delhi worked on gathering inputs as to who could be the possible kidnapper. Soon, Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar of Kalyanpuri gathered that a juvenile who used to work for the kidnapped boy's father could be behind it. He was from Badaun.

The team raided several places in Bareilly and Badaun. Finally, the kid was traced and the juvenile was apprehended in the wee hours on Tuesday from Imperial Mall, Bareilly. Investigations revealed that the boy has been thrown out of the house by his sister-in-law after his mother expired.

"He came back to Delhi in search of a job and took minor jobs at the house of his previous employer. He recently saw a movie where four persons kidnapped a boy and demanded ransom. This motivated him to kidnap the minor," said DCP East Omvir Singh.
