Junkie father-son duo held for snatching

New Delhi: A father-son duo was caught red-handed while fleeing after robbing an IAS aspirant of his cell phone in central Delhi's Ranjit Nagar, the police said today.
According to police on Sunday, while victim Vivek Kumar was returning home, the accused confronted him. One of the accused grabbed him tightly by the neck, while the other punched him and snatched his cell phone from his pocket and the duo fled from the spot.
Kumar raised an alarm and two constables, who were patrolling the area started chasing the accused, who were nabbed after a small chase with help from locals.
The accused were identified as Tinku (30) and his father Khajan Singh (50), and the stolen phone recovered from them. During interrogation, they told police that they are drug addicts and would purchase drugs with the money they got after selling off the stolen items, said Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP (Central).
The duo used to target passersby at deserted places, especially in areas like Ranjit Nagar, Patel Nagar, Kirti Nagar etc and robbed the victims off their belongings after chocking them by grabbing them by their neck, he added.
