Jaitpur SHO, ASI sent to district lines over cop suicide

NEW DELHI: The Station House Officer (SHO) of Jaitpur Police Station and an ASI have been sent to district lines on Friday following allegations of harassment was reported in a suicide letter by a cop from the same police station after he committed suicide.
Assistant Sub Inspector Devender shot himself dead with his service revolver near Yamuna bank on Tuesday, leaving a suicide note behind at his home where it was found that he accuse ASI Sunder Lal and the SHO Ram Niwas for harrassing him and taking this extreme step.
The family after his death met senior police officer in Delhi Police Headquarters after which this action was taken.
Confirming the news DCP, Romil Baaniya said, "In this regard, SHO Jaitpur and ASI Sunder Lal have been ordered to report to district lines with immediate effect".
The Delhi Police was inquiring into the allegations.
After he shot himself dead, Devender's bike was found metres away from the place where he committed the suicide. Soon, a team of Delhi Police officers rushed to the spot and he was taken to the hospital where the doctors on duty declared him brought dead. The body was later sent for the post mortem and the family members were informed by the cops.
The family members of the deceased met the senior officers and submitted a representation along with the copy of the suicide note written by the ASI before commiting suicide.
The same has been marked to Additional DCP rank officer for enquiry. They also requested for the recruitment of ASI Devender's son on compassionate ground.
