Jailor accuses Gurugram police's lower rung officials of supplying drugs to prisoners

Gurugram: Not only has the death of prisoner Akhilesh Kumar opened the can of worms on the working of law enforcement official, but it seems the case has also highlighted the cracks within the department of the

district police.

In the latest allegation, the jailor of Bhondsi jail, Jai Kishan Chillar, has accused certain lower rung officials of Gurugram police to supply drugs to prisoners while they are out either for a court hearing or for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the Gurugram police have appointed an officer of ACP rank to investigate the matter.

The death of 27-year- old Akhilesh Kumar has again opened a can of worms and have again highlighted that how there is the rampant supply of drugs within the jail complex.

The theory of Akhilesh who was apparently serving a life term after being convicted in a murder case succumbing due to his illness completely changed after the post mortem report received on Wednesday evening. The report revealed that there were 20 small packets of drugs that were found in his stomach.

Subsequently, a magisterial enquiry has been launched in the case. However, the pressing question remains that how the 27-year-old Akhilesh Kumar who was also an asthmatic patient consumed such a large quantity of drugs within the jail premises for a long time.
