Inter-state gang of burglars busted in Gzb, 3 held

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police have busted an inter state gang of burglars, called the 'Raju Gang', and arrested three members, including a woman, who were accused of committing over a hundred robberies at various showrooms and houses in posh sectors around the Delhi and NCR regions. Police officials said that Cash and jewelleries worth Rs 30 lakh was recovered from their possession. The gang was busted by a team of Indirapuram police station from Kanawani pushta area on Monday morning.

According to police, the arrested accused were identified as Rajveer Singh (24) native of Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay Arora (39) from Bhivani district of Haryana and Anju (26) a resident of Moradabad.

"In preliminary interrogations, the accused confessed to have committed several robbery incidents at jewellery showroom and houses in residential sectors. The kingpin of their gang, identified as Farman, is behind the bars in Tihar Jail of Delhi while he had been operating the gang even after being in jail," said Shlok Kumar, Superintendent of Police (city), Ghaziabad.

Elaborating the Modus Operandi, kumar said that the gang first used to get details of renowned showrooms of the area through internet and keep a watch for a day or two before committing the robbery.

"The gang members used luxury cars to wander around the showrooms and get all the details they need. Later in night, they enter the targeted shop with the help of cutters and other equipments and commit robbery. They also used to take away the DVR of CCTV cameras at the shop which had made it difficult to identify them. The stolen jewellery and goods were then sold out online and at weekly markets in other states with the help of their female gang member," added Kumar. The officer further said that nearly a dozen cases of robbery and attempt to murder are registered against the gang in various police stations of Delhi and NCR regions. Police have recovered Rs 15 lakh cash, jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh, 4 luxury cars, a sports motorcycle and cutting equipments used in robbery from the possession of accused persons.
