Info on cultural events in Delhi now a missed call away

NEW DELHI: Delhiites can now give a missed call on 9323300300 to receive alerts on government-run arts, cultural events in the city, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday.
Sisodia told media persons that the decision was taken after the government received scores of complaints from people that they do not get to know about government events.
"When a person gives a missed call to the number, their mobile number gets registered with the government," Sisodia said.
He said the move would help art lovers in the city to stay updated and choose their favourite events.
"The Delhi government has initiated a number of programmes to bring the finest art and culture to its people. Through the different academies of Art, Culture and Languages department and Tourism, the government presents a varied range of programmes of theatre, classical music, literature, fine arts and so on," he said.
The minister added that on an average 15-20 programmes a month are organised or supported by the government.
Other than events and programmes, the Delhi government offers scholarships and fellowships that can at times go unseen by deserving candidates.
Announcements for openings, fellowships, grants etc shall also be communicated through this platform.
