Incidents of bogus voting, booth capturing reported from Mewat
Gurugram: There were charges of bogus voting and booth capturing from Mewat, the area which the votes the maximum in Gurugram lok sabha constituency. In one of the incidents, Shabnam Begum arrived to cast her vote in Malab village in Mewat, only to find out that someone has already voted in her name.
According to the officer on duty, another person had voted showing Shabnam's Aadhaar card.
Presiding officer & villagers have clashed in Neemka, Mewat, over-identification of a voter named Masood. Villagers beat up the presiding officer Gajender Verma after Masood was barred from voting on basis of his class-X mark sheet.
Two FIRs registered in Nuh, one at Tauru police station against a person "trying to cast a bogus vote", another at Rojka Meo police station against a Presiding Officer for "exercising undue influence & violation of the moral code of conduct
A situation also arose where Congress candidate Capt Ajay Singh Yadav and BJP local leader Alam Mundal clash in Chanddhaka. Yadav alleges booth capturing at the booth. He is likely to submit an application seeking repolling.
The unwarranted controversy generated in the area resulted in much lower voting percentage in Mewat with 65 per cent as compared to over 75 per cent that was reported in 2014.
Over 802 booths in Gurugram booths were sensitive. have been present in Sohna, Badshapur and even the Gurugram city. Under the 802 polling booths, 368 are 368 sensitive areas and 434 hypersensitive areas.
The maximum number of sensitive booths have been identified in Sohna which s then followed by Badshapur and even parts of Gurugram urban area. There were incidents where there were a scuffle between e rival groups.
In Sohna, there are 78 sensitive booths and 114 hypersensitive booths. In Pataudi, there are 44 sensitive booths and 45 hypersensitive booths while in Badhahpur there are 77 hypersensitive booths.
At 13 there are also a substantial number of hypersensitive booths in Gurugram urban area. It ultimately affected the voting percentage with Badshapur receiving the least voting percentage of 44 per cent.
