Illegal alcohol seized in Gurugram, two held

In less than a week for the second time, the Gurugram Police held two men and has seized a huge cache of illegal English liquor from the city.
On Tuesday night under the surveillance of Inspector Vinod, the police captured a vehicle from Dundahera that was transporting 50 cartons of illegal liquor.
The two persons were identified as Abhishek and Rajendar.
According to the police, the men were arrested during an inspection campaign.
Finding that there was something suspicious in the car in which the two were travelling, they were ordered to stop the car.
However, when the two started escaping from the spot, they were instantly held.
The excise department has imposed a fine of Rs1, 80,000 on the culprits.
Earlier on July 13, a truck carrying 800 cartons of illegal liquor was captured.
In the huge overhaul, 650 cartons were English liquor while the 150 were country made liquor.
Highlighting the challenges even Sandeep Khirwar, the Gurugram Police Commissioner, had recently said that there was an increase in the sale of liquor that are not legally registered.
According to sources in Gurugram police, there is a huge a market for illegal liquor as most of the liquor vends is being set up in the city.
"There is a huge market for the liquor that has resulted in the setting up of various liquor vending units. Most of these units are obtaining unlicensed liquor.
"Besides causing a loss to the state exchequer, it can also proved to be a health hazard for the consumers," said a senior police official from Gurugram Police.
Meanwhile, officials of Gurugram police told Millennium Post that there will be more checks that will be conducted within the city and its outskirts to capture the culprits that are involved in the trade of unlicensed liquor.
